The company
In 2014 Anette Niia and Ylva Sarri founded Scandinavian Sami Photoadventures. After many years work as guides, performers and photographers we decided to do something together. We wanted to show the beautiful nature we have around us and to be able to learn others about the nature and the Sami life.
Our story
In beginning of 1900 the tourism started to Kebnekaise and Abisko. This was a time when there was almost no knowledge about the mountainareas up here and the Sami people where the ones that where familiar with the area. There was a long tradition of taking help of sami guides and the Sarri and Niia families where some of the families who started to work as guides besides the traditional Sami work with reindeerherding, hunting and Sami handicraftmaking. Both adventurers, researchers and photographers come to be their guests in the following years.
The Sarri family got well known mountain guides and Niia family started to work as photographers. We wanted to preserve the knowledge we got from our families and founded Scandinavian Sami Photoadventures.
