Our familystory

In the beginning of 1900 the tourism started in this area. This was a time when there was almost no knowledge about the mountainareas up here and the sami people where the ones that where familiar with the area. There was a long tradition of taking help of sami guides and the Sarri and Niia families where some of the families who started to work as guides besides the traditional sami work with reindeerherding, hunting and sami handicraftmaking. Both adventurers, researchers and photographers come to be their guests in the following years.
